MY SPORTDOG® SPORTTRAINER® SD-575 REMOTE OR COLLAR RECEIVER WILL NOT CHARGE

A system that is no longer charging is defined as a system or component that is no longer attempting to take a charge. This article will walk you through determining which component is causing the issue.

If neither the remote nor the collar light up on the charger, jump to TROUBLESHOOTING THE CHARGER.

If only the collar does not light on the charger, or the collar lights solid red on the charger, jump to TROUBLESHOOTING THE COLLAR.

If the remote does not indicate a filling battery icon when placed on the charger, jump to TROUBLESHOOTING THE REMOTE.

TROUBLESHOOTING THE REMOTE

Ensure the charger is inserted and lined up correctly. The charger will click into place when inserted correctly and can only fit in one direction. Visit HOW TO CHARGE YOUR SPORTDOG® SPORTTRAINER® SD-575 for further assistance with proper charging methods if needed.

  • If the remote is completely dead, it may take up to ten minutes for the device to register that it is charging.

TROUBLESHOOTING THE COLLAR

Inspect the charge port for dirt or debris. Rinse clean with fresh water and air dry.

Inspect the charge port for damage or corrosion. There should be two charge pins straight and intact. If damaged a replacement collar can be purchased at SportDOG.com.

Ensure the charger snaps into place when on the charger. Visit HOW TO CHARGE THE SPORTTRAINER 575 for more information.

The collar may take up to 10 minutes on the charger for the light to come on if the battery is completely dead.

TROUBLESHOOTING THE CHARGER

If the charge cord you are using to charge the units is plugged into a USB device such as a computer, ensure the computer is powered on and unlocked for the duration of the charge.

If the charge cord is plugged into a wall outlet, try plugging the unit into another outlet. Use an outlet that you know is providing power, such as an outlet that a lamp is plugged into.

Try using a different wall adaptor if there is one available.
