HOW TO LOCATE A FULL BREAK IN THE BOUNDARY WIRE OF A SPORTDOG® IN-GROUND FENCE™
A full break is indicated by your loop light going out accompanied by an audible alarm. This type of break will be the complete separation of the wire in one or more locations. A full break needs to be confirmed with a Systems Test.
Once you have confirmed a full break, you may locate the damaged wire in one of two ways. You may purchase our Wire Break Locator Kit sold by another Radio Systems Corporation company on PetSafe®.com, or if you wish to locate the break without the use of our wire break locator, follow the steps below:
- Visually inspect your splices and high-traffic areas for wire separation or damage to the wire. Common areas to check are where the wire meets the edges of the driveway, the twisted wire, areas where yard work has recently occurred, areas where the wire is exposed, areas in which the ground has been disturbed.
- Use the DIVIDE METHOD to locate the area in which the break has occurred.
Don’t forget to purchase additional wire and splice kits rated for outdoor, in-ground use to repair damaged wire. They can be purchased on SportDOG®.com or contact Customer Care to purchase the splice kits and wire separately.
