HOW TO FIT THE SPORTDOG® NOBARK COLLAR TO MY DOG

Avoid leaving the collar on your pet for more than 12 hours per day to prevent skin irritation. If skin irritation does occur, stop using the collar and call your vet.

THINGS TO REMEMBER WHEN FITTING YOUR DOG'S COLLAR:

  • Proper fit of the collar is important.
  • The collar should not be worn while your dog is playing.
  • Your dog’s collar should never be worn with identification tags or additional collars.

HOW TO FIT

Center Collar Receiver on a DogCenter Collar Receiver on a Dog

With your dog standing and the collar turned off, center the collar receiver so the contact points are underneath your dog’s neck, touching the skin.

If your dog has long or thick fur, you can either trim the hair down (DO NOT shave) or you can use the longer contact points included in your kit.

The collar should fit snugly. You should only be able to get one finger between your dog and the collar strap.

Allow your dog to wear the collar for about 10 minutes, and then recheck the fit. The collar may become looser as he relaxes and needs to be tightened.

You may want to trim any excess collar strap after determining the fit.

  1. Once you have the collar fitted correctly, mark where you want to cut the strap. Be sure not to cut too short if your dog is still growing.
  2. Remove the collar from your dog and trim the collar strap where marked.
  3. You can use a lighter to melt the ends of the strap to remove any loose stands after trimming.

If you cut the collar too short or your dog has outgrown the collar, you can purchase a replacement strap here.
